Maryam Montague

Maryam Montague is an American author (Marrakesh by Design) and award winning blogger (My Marrakesh). Born in Egypt and based in Africa for the last 17 years, she has devoted her career to international development, with 20+ years experience in over 25 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The wide array of Maryam’s humanitarian efforts spans not only across countries, but also across fields: Maryam has worked to combat child labor, has helped develop women-friendly election laws, has advocated against torture, and has managed a portfolio of human rights grantees. She has been cited in more than 50 media, and featured on numerous occasions on television, including on CNN, the Lehrer News Hour, BBC, the Travel Channel and Al Hurra. Currently based in Marrakech, Maryam is president of Project Soar, a non-profit organization that seeks to empower underprivileged girls through art, sports and health education. She also owns Peacock Pavilions, Marrakech’s do good design hotel.
